Clash of Clans: Troops

Troops are used against either the goblins on the campaign map, or other players in order to win Trophies and loot Gold and Elixir - this is called raiding. Troops are created in Barracks and are stored in Army Camps. Currently, there are sixteen different types of normal troops, ten of which require Elixir and are trained in the normal Barracks; the other six require Dark Elixir and are trained in the Dark Barracks. There are two Hero troops as well.

Players should note that troops can be upgraded in the Laboratory. Tier 1, Tier 2 and Dark Elixir Troops receive a major graphic change at level 3, and another at both levels 5 and 6, if applicable. Tier 3 troops receive graphic changes with all upgrades. As troops are upgraded they become more powerful, but also cost more Elixir (or Dark Elixir) to train.

  • Tier 1 troops (Barbarians, Archers and Goblins) are very powerful when swarming in hordes. However, this makes them very vulnerable to Wizard Towers and Mortars.
  • Tier 2 troops (Giants, Wall Breakers, Balloons and Wizards) are more powerful than Tier 1 but not as powerful as Tier 3. Many of them have specialized targets.
  • Tier 3 troops (Healers, Dragons and P.E.K.K.As) are extremely powerful and are a valuable part of a very powerful army, being able to to overwhelm defenses easily. However, they are extremely expensive in terms of Elixir cost.
  • Dark Elixir Troops (Minions, Hog Riders, Valkyries, Golems, Witches and Lava Hounds) are troops that fill specific niches that the regular troops do not, like inexpensive flying troops, wall avoidance, powerful ground-based splash damage and massive health. They are not necessarily more powerful than their Elixir-based counterparts, but can be used in very effective ways if deployed properly.
  • Heroes (Barbarian King and Archer Queen) are immortal troops that are summoned via a permanent altar rather than trained in a Barracks. They are the most powerful troops in the game, but each player may only have one of each type. Although they cannot die in battle, they can be defeated and must rest for a period of time if they take damage.
  • Spells are created in the Spell Factory. Upgrade your Spell Factory to get more spells and to be able to hold more spells. You can also research spells in the Laboratory to make them more powerful.

Clash of Clans: Barracks

The Barracks allow you to train troops to attack your enemies. Barracks units cost elixir to produce and vary drastically in strength. As a general rule, the units that cost the most elixir and time to produce tend to be the most powerful based on their supply cost. However, the extra elixir cost and time equirements for these expensive units offsets their increase in strength. When farming, generally it is best to stick to the cheaper units to save on elixir costs and training time. Upgrade the Barracks to unlock advanced units that can win epic battles.

Clash of Clans: Base Setup

Basically there are two kinds of base in coc. War base and farming base. War base used during any war and farming base used in everyday life. The difference is as follows.

War base was essentially designed to be strong to secure the townhall from being raid by an opponent. While Farming base used to protect Gold and Elixir Storage so that they can not be captured by the enemy. Usually the farming base letting townhall destroyed in order to obtain Shield (security) for 12 hours.

Usually players who wish to pursue tropy in coc will only destroy your townhall and leave. When destroying townhall they usually use the minimum forces they have. If they have destroyed the townhall and we get the shield, then our loot will be abundant and safe from the loot hunter which is usually brings heavy forces. We will be secured from the raid of loot hunter for 12 hours.

Clash of Clans: Spells

Spells are created in the Spell Factory. Upgrade your Spell Factory to get more spells and to be able to hold more spells. You can also research spells in the Laboratory to make them more powerful.

Spells are way more than just an enhancement for your attack – they are essential. You have to know when you have to use what Spell in combination with your troops to make a victory happen or otherwise just waste your Elixir for some colorful graphic effects.

Clash of Clans: Dark Spells

Dark Spells are created in the Dark Spell Factory. Upgrade your Dark Spell Factory to get more spells and to be able to hold more spells. You can also research spells in the Laboratory to make them more powerful.

Clash of Clans: Other Buildings

These buildings are those that are neither offensive, defensive, or resource-giving. However, they are just as critically important. The Town Hall, for instance, is the heart of the village and regulates what buildings you can have, how many of them you can have, and how far you can upgrade them. The Clan Castle, on the other hand lets you connect with other players in a clan. Decorations are there to decorate your village. Obstacles are trees and rocks which can be found in your village. Clearing them will sometimes gives you Gems.

Clash of Clans: Resource Buildings

Resources are the currencies used to purchase and upgrade assets. The game has four different resources; gold, elixir, dark elixir, and gems.

Gold, elixir and dark elixir all have buildings that are used for storing and generating them.

Gold Gold
Gold is a resource that is dug up by gold mines. Once collected it is stored in your gold storages. The amount of gold you have is displayed at the top right side of the screen. Gold is used to build and upgrade defensive buildings, traps, elixir collectors, elixir storages and walls. It is also used to place national flag decorations.

Elixir Elixir
Elixir is a resource that is collected by elixir collectors. Once collected it is stored in your elixir storages. The amount of elixir you have is displayed at the top right side of the screen under gold. Elixir is used for purchasing and upgrading troops, army buildings, dark elixir storages, dark elixir drills, gold mines and gold storages. It is also used to place many decorations.

Dark elixir Dark Elixir
Dark Elixir is a resource that is collected by dark elixir drills. Once collected it is stored in your dark elixir storage. The amount of dark elixir you have is displayed at the top right side of the screen under elixir. Dark elixir is used for purchasing and upgrading hero class troops, as well as training and upgrading dark elixir troops.

Gem Gems
Gems are a resource primarily gained through in app purchase (IAP). There are other ways to obtain gems, although these methods are rather slow in comparison to purchasing them in the Shop. Small numbers of gems can be obtained by clearing rocks and trees from your village, but this is random and rate of respawn of trees and bushes is quite low. Completing achievements also awards gems. In addition, the top players in the top three clans receive gems from the weekly tournament. Lastly, Supercell occasionally holds competitions on their Facebook page for which they award gems to the winners.

Gems can be used to purchase gold, elixir, dark elixir and builder's huts. They can also be used to speed up upgrades, gold/elixir collection and to finish troop training.

Generally it's a good idea to save your gems for builders huts, as having more builders drastically increases the speed at which you can upgrade your village.

Clash of Clans: Defensive Buildings

In Clash of Clans, having a strong defense is as important as having a capable offense. In many ways, defense is even more important.

Defenses serve to safeguard trophies and protect resources from enemy troops. Each defense has its own strengths and weaknesses, and its location in your village should reflect that. For instance, the powerful Mortar is slow-firing, but deals incredible splash damage to ground troops. A downside is that it can't attack troops within four tiles of itself (or air troops at all) - so it should be placed in the center of your village with adequate protection from Air Defenses. On the other hand, Cannons and

Archer Towers deal lesser amounts of damage to groups (as they can target and hit only one unit at a time) but attack quicker and work as an effective first line of defense. The Wizard Tower deals incredible splash damage to both ground and air units, but has a relatively short range.

Clash of Clans: Game Basics

Clash of Clans is a renowned game from a Finland-based video game company Supercell, which has risen to prominence with the release of this game. Released on the 2nd of August, 2012 on the iOS platform, this game has been on the top download charts ever since.

The game is available as a free app on iTunes, but the makers also introduced a feature where players were charged money to advance further in the game. This feature skyrocketed the company’s profits and made the game one of the most popular apps on the iOS platform. Users of the Apple products are in love with this game.

The Story

Clash of Clans is an online multiplayer game from the Strategy genre, where every player has a village to build. The in-game currency is in the form of gold, elixir and dark elixir, and each player is given 500 gems in the beginning, from which they have to construct buildings, hire troops and train them for attack and defense. More gems can either be bought by paying at the iTunes store, or by completing the tasks given in the game.

Buildings and troops can be upgraded as the player progresses in the game. The main objective is to spruce up your village and go to war with other players to destroy their village. When you manage to do so, you obtain the loot from their village which can be used to upgrade yours.

The game has an interesting edge to it. Every village has the ruins of a Clan Castle, which needs to be rebuilt at some point in the game. This feature is only applicable for multiplayer campaigns. When the castle is rebuilt, a player can join a clan with other players and share troops with one another. The game also has a chat feature which allows players to interact with each other during play.

Easy Ways to Play Clash of Clans

Save gems
Gems in COC is very useful, you can speed up the process (make the building, preparing forces, etc). Becouse accelerate the process, this gem is really tempting. The longer you play, the more resources needed and the time of construction will increase. Do not let you be tempted. Save gems until really needed. We recommend using Gems to make the building with a limited time availability. In essence, play patiently, do not waste your Gem just to speed up the process. If you are tired of waiting, play some kind of game. For example, Candy Crush Saga, Tapped Out, Samurai Siege, or Total Conquest...

Attack if forces / troops already ready
The way you build cities depends on your personality. Are you the one concerned with the defense and the magnitude of the city? Or you are an aggressive type who prefers to act offensively than sitting and swinging leg think about how you make your city safer, beautiful, and large? Hmmm .... Whatever your personality, one thing you must remember, strike with the right type of forces to get the resource is faster than building a high-level mines and produces gold and elixir.

Building a city defense (defense base)
Your city defence depending on how you place the building and build a wall around it. That means you must put your Gold and elixir storage (storage of gold and elixir) in your city. So, if you're in an attack, they're still able to survive.

Build alliances with other players (Clan Castle)
When you have a good level of town, and you've completed the single player level, rebuild your castle, it's time to join with other players. Not only as you will have a lot of friends (and enemies), but the relationship with the other players will get a lot of advantages. All you have to do is not only expect assistance, but you also have to help other players. You will be part of a team. Do not hesitate to ask for advice from other players. Most are in English, so this is also a good opportunity to practice English.

Select a city to be attacked
If the troops or forces are ready, soon you will have to attack other cities. It is always challenging. But you should consider about opponent defences, so that your spending to build troops are not useless and produce resource and trophy to the maximum.

Clash of Clans Introduction

Clash of Clans is a 2012 freemium mobile MMO strategy video game developed and published by Supercell, a video game company based in Helsinki, Finland.

The game was released for iOS platforms on August 2, 2012. For Android, it soft-launched in Canada and Finland on September 30, 2013On October 7, 2013, it was released on Google Play internationally.

Gameplay
Clash of Clans is an online multiplayer game in which players build a community, train troops, and attack other players to earn gold and elixir, which can then be used to build defenses so as to protect the player against other players attacking themThe game also features a pseudo-single player campaign in which the player must attack a series of progressively more heavily-fortified goblin villages.

Troops
Troops are divided into Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, Dark Elixir Troops, and Heroes.

  • Tier #1 - Consists of Barbarians, Archers, and Goblins.
  • Tier #2 - Consists of Giants, Wall Breakers (skeletons that carry bombs), Balloons (Wall Breakers in hot air balloons that drop bombs), and Wizards.
  • Tier #3 - Consists of Dragons, Healers, and P.E.K.K.A.s (a race heavily-armored sword wielding mechas).
  • Dark Elixir Troops - Consists of Minions (which resemble flying imps), Hog Riders, Valkyries, Golems, Witches and Lava Hounds.
  • Heroes - Consists of the Barbarian King and the Archer Queen. Heroes are immortal and can only be trained once. They are summoned by an altar rather than being trained in the barracks like the other troops.

Buildings
To earn and store gold and elixir, players must build gold mines and gold storage and elixir collectors and elixir storage, respectively. Elixir is used to train new troops, carry out research in the laboratory to upgrade troops and to build certain buildings. Gold is used to build defensive buildings and to upgrade the town hall, which allows access to more buildings and higher levels for existing buildings.

There are a number of buildings available to the player to defend their community, including cannons, mortars, bombs, archer towers, and wizard towers. Players can also build walls, which can be upgraded as they increase in level.

Clan wars
A major component of the gameplay of Clash of Clans is clans facing off against one another. Clan leaders and co-leaders can begin wars against other clans. Each clan is then given one "preparation day" and one "war day." When a player attacks a member of the opposing clan, they receive stars based upon the amount of destruction they cause to the opponent's community. Each player is limited to two attacks per war, and the team with the most stars at the end of the war day is declared victorious, with players receiving bonus war loot if he/she use their attacks in the war and a one more war win record in the clan description.

Gems
Aside from gold and elixir, the game also uses gems as a currency. Gems can be awarded for reaching certain milestones and completing certain achievements, but the main way to acquire gems is to purchase them using real world money. Gems can be used to speed up every aspect of the game; from construction time, to troop training to lab research. They can also be used to purchase more gold and elixir.

Critical reception
Clash of Clans has received generally positive reviews. The iOS version holds an aggregate score of 74 out of 100 on Metacritic, and 80.00% on GameRankings.

Gamezebo's Leif Johnson was impressed, scoring the game 4.5 out of 5. Although he felt the gameplay was heavily skewed to encourage the player to purchase gems, he praised the addition of a single-player campaign. He concluded that "Clash of Clans is a simple game, but that's more of a strength than a weakness. It's simple enough to provide quick, painless matches on an iPhone in an idle moment, and there are enough different units to choose from in the battle mode to make playing against other players endlessly rewarding. Best of all, the option to fight against NPC goblins gives Clash of Clans a small edge over similar strategy games that rely almost entirely on player-versus-player combat."

Pocket Gamer's Peter Willington was equally impressed, scoring the game 9 out of 10 and giving it a "Gold Award". Reviewing the game several months after it was released for iOS devices, Willington praised the game for requiring real strategy to play. He wrote that the gameplay was built on the progression of "requiring more and more sophisticated units, asking you to strategise and really think about which elements you should focus on building within your camp." He concluded that "Clash of Clans is a superb game, freemium or otherwise, with more nuance than most give it credit for. That's why it's passed the test of time since its launch and still has an active community devotedly constructing elaborate fortresses in the hope of becoming invincible."

148App's Rob Rich scored the game 3.5 out of 5, writing "It's great to play an online freemium game that doesn't shy away from the single-player experience but also offers up some honest-to-goodness direct interaction, which is a very rare combination these days. It probably won't warm the hearts of any haters out there, but it does give genre fans something with a bit more action and strategy than they might be used to."

Modojo's John Bedford was less impressed, scoring the game 3 out of 5. He was critical of freemium gaming in general, writing "The novelty hasn't just worn off this particular style of greedy gaming, it's shriveled up and condensed itself into an infinitely dense singularity of self-loathing." Of the game itself, he concluded "This is a game that follows in the footsteps of no small number of titles that have made feverish demands on our wallets in exchange for just a slightly thicker slice of the gameplay. It's possible you have an unending appetite for these micromanagement titles, in which case we recommend getting heartily stuck into Supercell's latest game. While Clash of Clans brings something new to accompany its competent but unexceptional empire gameplay, for most of us it'll be a case of too little, too late."

Commercial reception
The game has been very successful for Supercell. As of April 2013, Supercell had only two games on the App Store, Clash of Clans and Hay Day, and had grossed $279 million. Daily revenue was at $2.4 million, with 8.5 million daily players, and Forbes projected a revenue of between $800 million and $1 billion by the end of 2013. They ultimately earned $892 million (compared to $101 million in 2012).

Clash of Clans became an App Store top 5 download between December 2012 and May 2013, and this success has been described as helping to usher in a new era in conjoint gaming on mobile devices. In 2013, Clash of Clans was the third highest game in revenue generated on the App Store and Google Play.
